Silk is a lustrous natural fibre which contains irregularities of variations in shade and/or weave. These irregularities are characteristics of silk and should, in no way, be considered a defect. We highly recommend the use of Lining AND Interlining to extend the life of silk drapes as well as enhance the look of your finished product.
When ordering Silk Plaid Fabrics, please keep in mind the above characteristics. Due to the irregularities in the weave of natural silk, silk plaids will not have a consistent pattern repeat. If you want to use plaid silk for drapes, you will have to allow extra yardage and be willing to work with the silk fabric. Our custom workroom finds the easiest solution is to match the plaids as well as possible
toward the middle of the panels and let the bottoms puddle. This makes the most unmatched portion of the drapes less noticeable. Also remember that while all silk plaids do not have a consistent repeat, the larger the plaid, the harder
the fabric will be to work with as far as matching. If you would like a patterned silk, but do not wish to deal with the difficulties of matching plaids, we highly recommend our Dupioni Silk Stripes. |
