How to make a square tablecloth!
During this blog, I will demonstrate how to make a table cloth for a square table.
SUPPLIES:
I used 3 and 1/2 yards of Cotton Duck Natural and 2 yards Spring Mix Spring.
PROCEDURE:
The first step in creating this table cloth was to measure the table top, my table is a 54″ square table.
Since this fabric is 58″ wide I cut the top piece 58″ long to match for a perfect square.
Next I wanted to add a fabric insert of the Spring Mix Spring so I cut four strips of 3″ wide and 63″ long.
Once you have your pieces cut out go ahead and serge all edges. This step helps to make sure your fabric will not fray.
Next, with the face of the fabrics together make a 1/2″ stitch attaching the one strip of 3″ fabric to each side of the table top fabric. Make sure to miter your corners together.
I decided I wanted my drop to be 9 and 1/2 inches. To get this drop I had to add more of the Cotton Duck Natural. I cut four pieces 9 inches wide by 72 inches long. These will need to be serged also.
Using a 1/2″ stitch attach the four 9 inch pieces to the existing table cloth and once again miter your corners.
Now is the time to press, pin, and hem. I wanted a 1″ finished hem so I measured 2″ and pressed then folded under to create my 1″ hem.
This made a very pretty table cloth!
Now you can create your very own designer table cloth!
Happy sewing!!!
