During this process, I used one yard of each fabric.

PROCESS:

The first step is to decide what size of pillow I wanted to create. I am needing some Euro pillows for my queen size bed so I made two Euros 28″ square.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  I started by cutting out the back pieces. I cut two pieces  20″ x 29″.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  I then cut the front piece 29″ square.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Take the pieces you have cut out and serge the edges all the way around.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  I folded one edge of the a back piece under five and a half inches and then placed this over the other back piece covering five and a half inches also. This will give you a 29″ square once you have stitched this together.  Notice in the photo how many pins that I used to secure this together to make sewing easier.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Pin the front to the back pieces and stitch around the perimeter of the 29″ square.  Since the back had been pinned with the fold in the back this perimeter stitch is all you have to sew to create the envelope pillow.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  I decided I wanted to add a two inch flange around the edge of my Euro. To do this step just measure two inches all the way around pin and using the straight stitch sew. This makes a beautiful pillow.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Now you know how to create a envelope pillow with a flange edge.

Happy sewing until next time!!
