Insulated Hot Pad/Trivet

Hi there and happy weekend! It’s Mandie again with a quick tutorial that will likely come in handy with all of the baking you’re doing lately, right? Now that it’s October and there’s a hint of cool in the air, I can’t help but make all the pumpkin things…ever! I went to Trader Joe’s yesterday and had a hard time leaving anything pumpkin behind!

Anyway, I thought I’d share how I make hot pads, in case you’re in need of some new ones. I had a bit of fabric left over from my table runner, so I figured I’d use it up. Bonus: they match! No clashing linens on my dinner table!

Here’s what you’ll need:

galaxyspa-m insulbrite

1/3 yard of galaxy spa, 10″ square of insulbrite

First, cut two 10″ squares of your outside fabric and one 10″ square of insulbrite (if you’d like your hot pad quite thick, feel free to cut two squares out).

With the insulbrite on bottom, place the 2 fabric squares on top, right sides together.

Pin the layers together.

Sew around the entire square, leaving about 4 inches open. You’ll use this to turn the fabrics right side out.

Clip your corners to eliminate bulk.

Finger press the opening closed.

Then top stitch around the edge to close the opening and finish the hot pad!

Next, bake something yummy, enjoy your lovely table, and have a great weekend!
