Let’s make a cushion without a zipper!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  During this blog, I will demonstrate how to make a cushion without adding a zipper.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

birdwatchermeadow-m

For this cushion I used approximately 1 and a half yards of Birdwatcher Meadow.

PROCEDURE:

The first step making this cushion into a new chair cushion was to rip out all the seams, saving all the pieces to make patterns.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  I placed all the stuffing from the cushion into a bag so I would not lose any.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Next start cutting out the new cushions as shown in the photo. Cut two pieces- a top and a bottom.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Then cut out the side panel.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  And the last piece to cut out will be the piping cover. I am using the cord from the old cushion since it is still in good shape.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Using the zipper foot attachment cover the cord with the strips of fabric.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Next take one of the cushion pieces and add the piping to it. Notice I have placed the piping on the face of the fabric.  Do this to both pieces of the seat of the cushion.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Then take the side panel and add this to the top seat panel.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Now add the side panel to the bottom panel leaving a gap to insert the stuffing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  This photo shows the gap left to insert the stuffing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Fill the chair cushion with all the stuffing from the old chair cushion.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Next pin the gap closed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Last step is to take a needle and thread and  hand stitch the pinned section as shown in the photo.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   Now you know how to re-do a seat cushion!

Doesn’t this look so much better?

Happy sewing until next time!
