Merry Christmas – and a project fail

I was going to post two projects this week (I already posted some last-minute stocking stuffers here). One of them was a cute little zipper pouch lined in vinyl. I wanted to keep hand wipes in it, because, you know, I have a toddler. Toddlers are messy, plus it’s cold season. I currently use a beautiful Ziplock bag.

I spent a lot of time making several versions — the vinyl was giving me a little trouble because I had the thick kind.

I even went out in search of some plain PUL (polyurethane laminate) but couldn’t find any.

So I made do with my regular vinyl and came up with something I was satisfied with. I was going to share it with you today as a little bonus project, since I’m sure you all have nothing to do this weekend.

I happily filled my little pouch with wipes. Nice, wet wipes.

A few days later, they were bone dry. Not a wipe to be made with them. I had my concerns that the zipper would let too much air in, or moisture out, or whatever.

Well, I was right. Here’s a project down the tubes. Back to the plastic bag!

Have a wonderful Christmas weekend, folks! And after that, have a wonderful New Year’s Eve. I’ll be back with some sort of post to welcome in the New Year!
