Recovering a Chair Bottom!!
During this blog, we are going to recover this tired bar stool and give a fresh look!
SUPPLIES:
You will need to purchase some upholstery fabric. I choose the beautiful Linen Butterflies for my bar stools. You will also need a staple gun, staples, flat head screwdriver, pryer, and dust cover.
PROCEDURE:
First step in reviving your old chair is to remove the existing fabric.
As shown in the photo, I use a flat head screwdriver to pry up the existing staples.
I then use a pryer to completely remove the staple. Continue to do this step until all the staples have been removed. Once all the staples have been removed measure your chair bottom. My chair bottom measures 17.5″ x 18.5″ so I cut my fabric 23.5″ x 24.5″. This will allow me 3 inches on each side to turn over the back of the board and staple.
Next, center your fabric the way you want the seat to look and add a loose staple in the center of all four sides as shown in the photo to the left.
Now, start at the center and work your way to the side stapling while pulling tight. Make sure you smooth the fabric instead of grabbing and creasing.
Continue to smooth and staple until you have went completely around your chair bottom.
This photo shows the bottom when it has been completely stapled down.
Next, cut a piece of dust cover about one inch larger than your chair bottom. Fold the edge of the dust cover to fit and staple down.
This is the finished bottom.
Attach your chair bottom back in place and you are finished!!!!!!
Now create something new for your home!
