Fringed bed throw
I was actually really surprised by how much this bed throw added to this room. Our bedding is a really simple off-white and the throw really brought together the colors in the room. We have lots of gorgeous trim to choose from. I used a beaded fringe on the edges of this. A pretty easy project that can add quite a bit of dimension to a room!
Supplies
Pattern
The width of the fabric will be the part that is folded up into the throw. The yardage you purchase will be the width of the bed. I have a king size bed, and I wanted it to hang over the sides a bit, so I used 2.5 yards. Your trim needs to be twice the width of your fabric. Most decorator fabric is about 54″, so I used three yards of trim (you need enough to fold over the sides just a touch).
Process
Trim the selvages off your fabric.
Press over a small hem, maybe 1/4″, on a long side.
Press over again and pin.
Stitch the hem. Repeat on the other side.
Hem the short sides of the fabric and then pin the fringe on.
You’ll want it to extend a bit past the edge so it can fold over. You’ll want it to extend a bit farther than I’ve shown in this photo, so it can fold over twice and conceal the raw edge.
After stitching the trim in place, fold the ends to the back, folding the raw edge under (the trims really unravel!). Hand stitch in place on all four corners.
It will look like this from the front …
… and this from the back.
